Luke Malewicz

Trombonist/Composer/Educator

       

Luke Malewicz, a native of Nowa Sol, Poland, resides in Chicago as a freelance trombonist and educator. He teaches at various Chicago area schools and colleges and regularly performs at some of Chicago’s best jazz venues including Andy’s Jazz Club, The Jazz Showcase, and Winter’s Jazz Club

        Luke is a sought-after clinician and guest artist. Some of his clinics and guest performances include DePaul University, Michigan State University, University of Indianapolis, Indiana University, Northeastern University, St. Xavier University, Rolling Meadows Jazz Festival, Downers Groove North High School, New Trier High School and Oswego High School. He has performed with Luis Bonilla, Ingrid Jensen, Stefon Harris, David Liebman, Elliot Mason, The Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra, the Rob Parton Big Band, Mary Wilson, The Four Tops, The Temptations, and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra.

         Among his current projects Luke maintains an active in person and virtual teaching studio, creates video tutorials for trombone and jazz and has written over 250 jazz etudes for trombone which are available through his Patreon under LowBrassLuke. He is also an active studio musician recording weekly with remote clients out of his home recording studio. His playing can be heard on various Grammy nominated tracks as well as Amazon Prime Shows.

Luke leads the Heritage Jazz Orchestra, which is Chicago’s only organ big band, every first Monday of the month at Andy’s Jazz Club. He is also a member of the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, various pit orchestras throughout the city, and several event focused ensembles. Most recently he became part of the DJ Duo of Two Friends.
